It's Christmas!

The nursery children have been as busy as elves making decorations for our tree. They have been practising their cutting to make snowflakes, writing Christmas cards for their friends and threading and gluing to make paper chains. Our tree looks beautiful!

Parents Evening

Parents evening will take place on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th of December. Please sign up to see you child's key adult when you drop them off at nursery. The sign up sheets are on the noticeboard as you enter the class.

Nursery's Art Gallery

We have turned our role play room into an art gallery and artist's studio. You may have seen in the newsletter that we have been learning about repeating patterns and we have some fantastic examples on display in our gallery! The children have also been working really hard at writing their names to label their fabulous works of art. If your children draws an amazing picture at home please bring it in so that we can display it.

Poppies

For Remembrance Day all of the children at Queensbridge made poppies. The poppies were placed in the playground to make a poppy field.

Welcome Back - We Love Art!

We hope that you had a lovely half term and would like to welcome you back. This half term we will be studying art for our topic We Love Art!

As well as creating our own pieces of art using a variety of materials we will be discussing famous paintings and exploring what we can see, such as different colours and shapes.

Our role play room as turned into an artist's studio and gallery. Please bring in any beautiful pictures that your children make at home so that we can display them in our gallery.

Hooray For Fish!

Nursery have been busy creating a piece of art based on the book Hooray For Fish by Lucy Cousins. Our amazing picture will be included in the school's 2015 calender. The children really enjoyed the story and using their fingers to paint these fantastic fish.

Creating Amazing Self Portraits

In class we have been drawing self portraits. We used mirrors to check the colour of our facial features. We did drew portraits on the interactive whiteboard and on paper using crayons. We have also been talking about what our sensory organs are used for. The children will make amazing artists next half term when our topic changes to 'We Love Art'!

Our Amazing Drawing and Writing

As part of our 'Me, Myself and I' topic the children have been discussing their homes and families. We have made a beautiful display that shows the children's amazing drawing, speaking and writing skills.

Mapledene Children's Centre

I would like to remind you that all of the children in nursery are able to attend FREE sessions at Mapledene Children's Centre on Tuesdays.

If your child attends nursery in the morning then they can attend Mapledene on Tuesday afternoons.

If your child attends nursery in the sfternoon then they can attend Mapledene on Tuesday mornings.

Welcome to the Nursery blog!

The Nursery team will be using this blog to post updates about the topics your children will be learning about. We will also post pictures of activities that we do and the outstanding work that your children produce.

Our behaviour expectations are on the 'Behaviour Expectations' page and I will be setting up links to online activities that your children can do to help their learning at home.

We will be holding our Queensbridge Meet and Greet on Friday 12th September at 3.30pm in Nursery. This is a chance to meet new teachers and find out what your children will be learning about this term.
